I’m back to work in progress and it’s a return to catch up on the story of Jason and Gemma with an excerpt from the final instalment of Sublime Trust. There are three books in the series and I always intended them to be easy to read as standalone stories with wrapped up endings and a hint of more to come. So if you’ve not read the other two, it’s not essential, but it does help.
Gemma is a submissive to her husband and they’re in the process of reviewing her rules, which they created a year earlier. He’s made a few amendments and given that he’s a lawyer, she’s a little worried about the wording….

“You’re precise with your words, Jason, don’t deny it,” I pointed out. Oh, the times his precision had caught me out. Those moments raced through my mind and I stuck my chin up, making a point of demonstrating I meant business.
“All right, let’s go through your concerns. First up,” began Jason, “I may not asked directly for any form of sexual activity with my Dominant or offer my sexual assets for the purposes of achieving my own gratification unless I approach my Dominant and ask permission to do so first. The sexual needs of my Dominant take precedence over my own. Well?” He raised his eyebrows.
“See? It is very … wordy and what about special occasions, birthdays? Can’t I surprise you with something?” I clutched my clammy hands together on my lap. Why was this so damn hard to do – speaking to my husband, expressing my needs?
He smiled, one of his more warming, inviting ones, which helped unclench my fingers and alleviated the nervous flurry of butterflies in my belly.
He stroked his chin with the tips of his fingers. “That’s showing love, not asking for sex. If you do it entirely for the purpose of having me, that would be the wrong motivation. I don’t want you to manipulate or control me, instead, think about what motivates you to do something.”
I resisted the urge to roll my eyes to the ceiling. I knew Jason well enough to understand his train of thoughts. “Okay, you want me to be romantic but not the demanding, clingy sub who wears a fuck me t-shirt all day. Have to see how that one works out,” I shrugged. I’d a flirty habit, which Jason had steered into a more attractive version. “Sexually appealing clothing. Does that mean I can buy more sexy lingerie? Also isn’t this in contradiction of asking with my ‘assets’. Do you want me to look sexy or not?” I narrowed my eyes, despatching him a, ‘make up your darn mind’ expression, at least that was what I hoped I was conveying.
He sighed. My man hated being interrogated – that was his job, not mine, but he answered, adding a small smirk as he spoke. “New clothes have to fit in the existing wardrobes and drawers. I’m not giving you any more storage space. There is a difference between looking adorably sexy and asking for a fuck. I like you to look desirable and elegant, not hanging your tits out for every Tom, Dick and Harry.” Again, his reply seemed to satisfy the lingering doubt in my head that he was intentionally making life difficult for me.
“Quote – I may not ask for permission but wait to be told I may come and do so for your pleasure as quickly as I can. I like begging!” I exclaimed with a mock pout.
“Ask permission to beg then. I will either say yes or no! Don’t make it a habit; I want you to teach you to come on demand. This helps you to learn to wait for my command.” Jason’s clarification brought a jaw drop from me.

Another excellent story from this author. I love the continuing story of Jason & Gemma from the previous two Trust Me books. Ms Peaches is on my automatic buy list. You can read as a stand alone story but personally I enjoyed having the back story of their relationship.

I just love the dynamic of Gemma and Jason’s relationship. It takes me places that I haven’t thought to explore, and in all reality probably never will, but I can live it through Gemma! There are times when I want to shout out and tell her not to act so stupidly and there are other times when I admire her restraint.
For a woman living a privileged life with such a rich husband she also experiences recognisable real life emotions with the usual ups and downs.
I love this series and look forward to even more.

I think her objections are definitely good ones and when Jason talks about motivation he should not forget how easily this could be misunderstood. Asking permission to beg?! He has some high expectations. On the one hand I love that, but it can be pretty hard to live up to his standards, I’d say.
I hope he softens up and grants her a few liberties so that she can blossom, like just being allowed to beg. That is fun and can be frustrating too.:) But if he puts too much on her, she’ll be unable to please. Thank you for the snippet Jay, I loved it and obviously am currently taking Gemma’s side. 🙂
